Why it’s possible

Private jets constantly reposition between bookings — flying home after dropping a client off, or out to collect the next one. Those flights, known as empty legs, would otherwise operate with an empty cabin.

What is an empty leg?
A flight a private jet has to make without passengers — returning to base after dropping a client off, or positioning for its next booking. The aircraft, the crew and the flight are already planned; only the cabin is empty.
Why is it cheaper than chartering a jet?
Because the flight is happening anyway. A charter prices the whole aircraft for one client. On an empty leg the aircraft is already scheduled to fly, so the operator can sell its seats one by one instead of flying an empty cabin. You pay for your seat, not for the jet.
Is the flight guaranteed?
Not until the operator confirms it. An empty leg exists because of another booking, so it depends on that booking going ahead. You are only booked — and only pay — once the operator has confirmed the flight and your seat.
Can departure times change?
Yes, sometimes. Empty legs follow the operator’s schedule, so a departure time can move, occasionally at short notice. That is why flexible dates help, and why every flight’s conditions are shown before you book.
What happens if the operator cancels?
You get the full price of your seat back. Operators can cancel an empty leg — for example when the aircraft is chartered for that exact route, or for technical or weather reasons. If that happens, the seat price is refunded in full.
When do I pay?
Joining Priority Access is free, and it stays free. When bookings open, you pay for a seat only once the operator has confirmed the flight and your seat — never to join, and never for a flight that has not been confirmed.
